Panhead alterius
Panhead alterius is a sculptural tribute to the Harley-Davidson Panhead, built from authentic motorcycle parts. A Fraklin Mint model Panhead motor sits at the center, backed by a golden heart motif and framed by a sprocket, highlighted with brass acorn nuts and gold-toned rods extend outward, while spark plugs ring the composition, creating a golden halo befitting the glorious Panhead motor.
Vintage Panhead pistons and connecting rods form the heart of the piece, which are mounted on an airplane radial gear as a bass. Gold and stainless-steel chains wrap the pistons, recalling piston rings and giving the structure a crown-like finish. A flickering flame bulb illuminates the piece from behind, casting a warm glow. Its mix of chopper culture and sacred imagery gives the work the feel of a mechanical altar.
