Sacread Heart of St. Mary Motor
The Sacred Heart of the Holy Motor Mary brings vintage motorcycle parts together in a compact mechanical shrine. Harley-Davidson Shovelhead pistons and connecting rods form the main structure; the rods have been heated and twisted by hand, giving the metal a distinct, character. A heavy metal radial airplane gear serves as the base adding an additional industrial feel to the piece.
Shotgun shells were used as wrist pin caps, and gold and stainless steel chain was used to simulate the piston rings.
At the center, is industrial brass and metal plumbing pipe holding a glass heart made from the rare tequila bottle glows under a dimmable vintage-style bulb. A antique brass door knob operates the light, making the piece both a sculpture and a working object. Its combination of motorcycle hardware, repurposed glass, and soft illumination shins the with old-school biker culture with a gothic edge.
